Miles Buss
Artist in Residence
Miles Buss’ work entertains oppositional elements in reality, such as functionality versus non-functionality, illusion versus reality, and humor versus seriousness. His work uses minimal and distinct colors to highlight value and spatial relationships while creating an obvious separation from reality with hard edges and idealized forms. Buss aims to create situations that contradict themselves visually as well as leaving subtle problems within his work. Viewers are encouraged to participate in an ongoing game of shifting physical and mental positions to seek some sort of resolution to the problems. Buss participated in the New York Studio Residency in 2012 and recently completed a BFA in painting from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design.
